Nodewords Module for Drupal Helps to Make an Impression

The Nodewords Module for Drupal helps to create effective and distinct meta descriptions in Drupal pages. Meta descriptions are the text snippets shown by the search engine when a page appears in its search results. Interesting descriptions and keywords result in a site that has more traffic, better search engine positioning, and higher click-through rates, while bland or uninteresting descriptions have the opposite effect.

Nodewords Module Configuration

It’s best to configure the Nodewords Module to output the meta description and meta keywords on every page. Create a set of some default keywords and then add a couple more on every post to make a unique combination of relevant keywords. To ensure each page gets a distinct description, check the box that says:

“Use the teaser of the page if the meta description is not set.”

The description tag should contain the keywords you are trying to target and at the same time feel like a normal description of your content.

Additional options for configuration include:

  • Instruct the Nodewords Module to add all terms of some specified vocabularies to the KEYWORDS meta tag.
  • Automate the process. Once you have your taxonomy terms in place, proper configuration of the Nodewords Module will automatically use your taxonomy terms as meta keywords.
  • Specify a default meta tag ROBOTS value to use for all pages. You can override it on each page.
  • Specify the meta tags to show on some specific pages of your site, for example the front page and the 404 error page.
  • Select which tags you want to output on each page.
  • Do a robots = noindex for pages that you don’t want on the search engine results page.
